My story
Mavuso Williams
I grew up in Cape Town — a place that forces you to be resourceful, adaptable, and persistent. Those traits naturally carried over into how I approach technology and cybersecurity.
I’ve always been drawn to understanding how things work — breaking systems down, figuring out their weaknesses, and learning how they can be improved. That curiosity eventually led me into cybersecurity, where the goal isn’t just to understand systems, but to think like an attacker and respond like a defender.
I’m currently building my path into a SOC Analyst role, focusing on threat detection, SIEM fundamentals, and analysing alerts to separate real threats from noise. I’m ITIL certified, and through consistent hands-on practice on TryHackMe (Top 1%), I’ve developed practical experience with log analysis, enumeration, and common web vulnerabilities.
This space is where I document what I’m learning, share insights from labs, and track my progress as I grow in cybersecurity
I’m always open to connecting with others in cybersecurity, especially those working in SOC and blue team roles.

Certifications open doors — but genuine curiosity is what keeps you growing once you're through them.

Good security isn't just tools and rules. It's pattern recognition, intuition, and knowing when something feels off.

If I can't explain it simply, I don't understand it well enough. Writing forces clarity.
Representing Cape Town
Breaking into global tech from South Africa means showing others it's possible. That matters to me.
